Position Overview

The Executive Director leads anddirects all aspects of [Organization Name], reporting to the Board ofDirectors. As the strategic face and leader of the organization, thisrole is responsible for setting and executing vision, driving growth,ensuring financial sustainability, and overseeing day‑to‑dayoperations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization’s mission and goals.

  • Partner with the Board to set mid‑ to long‑term objectives, performance metrics, and KPI dashboards.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and accountability across all departments.

Fundraising & ExternalRelations

  • Design and execute diverse fundraising strategies (grants, major gifts, annual campaigns, corporate sponsorships).

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, government bodies, and community leaders.

  • Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson, enhancing visibility and reputation through media and public speaking engagements.

Financial Management

  • Oversee development and monitoring of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and capital plans.

  • Ensure financial integrity—monthly monitoring, audit preparation, and fiscal controls.

  • Partner with Finance team to analyze financial trends and make data‑driven decisions.

Operational Oversight

  • Lead, coach, and evaluate senior management (e.g., Finance, Programs, HR, Marketing).

  • Ensure operational excellence in program delivery, technology, policies, and organizational systems.

  • Champion a high‑performance culture aligned with best practices in compliance, governance, and ethics.

Board Governance & Compliance

  • Facilitate regular Board and committee meetings—share updates and inform decision‑making.

  • Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

  • Collaborate with Board leadership to onboard, train, and support effective Board members.

Talent & Culture

  • Hire, retain, and develop top talent; oversee performance management and succession planning.

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in staffing, governance, and programming.

  • Develop organizational policies and HR processes to support a healthy workplace culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, MA/MSc, or equivalent) preferred.

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience within nonprofits, NGOs, or mission-driven organizations.

  • Proven track record of successful fundraising and revenue diversification.

  • Strong financial literacy—budgeting, P&L management, and auditing.

  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a CEO, Executive Director, or equivalent role.

  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations (e.g. healthcare, education, social services).

  • Established network in donor, foundation, government, and community sectors.

  • Commitment to DEI principles and demonstrated impact in organizational transformation.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, exempt; at least 40hrs per week with some evenings/weekends.

  • Primarily office-based with frequent travel for fundraising, board events, and partnerships.

  • May manage multiple office locations or remote staff.
